The Minx has called: last night was a very successful First Night. Yippee!

12.15 Martin Kielty arrived punctually at 10.00 on behalf of Classic Rock. A good man, with proper journalistic instincts and values. The conversation mostly addressed the UMG dispute I…

13.23 Lunch with David and continuing discussion over UMG. David recalled his suggestion to Microsoft in 2000, when BootlegTV in Seattle was a prime concern of ours and MS were trying to get the industry onboard for its own music plans. The combined share-value of the major record labels was a fraction of the $ available to MS. Rather than negotiate with the majors for music rights, why not just buy up the music industry? Similarly today, with Apple’s cashpile of $90 billion, and the combined value of the music industry perhaps half that, why doesn’t Apple buy up the music industry with all its rights, and service iTunes with a content stream forever?

Packing and off to Chagford.

22.55 Super Audio Mastering, Monks Withecombe, Chagford, Devon.

Leaving DGM HQ c. 13.32, arriving c. 15.57.
